Certification
The Zoning Official’s Certification Program is a voluntary certification, primarily for local government zoning officials in North Carolina. The Program is sponsored by the North Carolina Association of Zoning Officials (NCAZO) with the assistance of the UNC-Chapel Hill School of Government.
Certification requires completion of the Planning & Development Regulation Course, a passing grade on the required examination, and ongoing certification maintenance. The full details on becoming and retaining your certification are included in the Certification Program Policy Manual.
