It is with great pride that we can announce the establishment of an annual scholarship program.

At the Board of Directors meeting on March 11, 2008 the board unanimously approved the NCAZO Annual Scholarship Program and adopted eligibility criteria.

Awards

The association will award two (2) one thousand ($1,000.00) dollar scholarships each year to eligible applicants. The board has established a scholarship committee which will review all applications and recommend to the board the name(s) of the potential recipients. The awards will be presented at each Annual Conference.

The student applicant shall be a member in good standing of the NCAZO or a spouse, son, daughter, stepson, stepdaughter, grandson, or granddaughter of a living or deceased member of the NCAZO.

The following is the eligibility list which the committee will use for consideration:

  1. Current member in good standing of with the NCAZO and furthering his/her education in the Zoning, Planning or related field.
  2. A spouse, son, daughter, stepson, stepdaughter, grandson, or granddaughter of a living or deceased member of the NCAZO that is pursuing an education in the Zoning, Planning or related field.
  3. A spouse, son, daughter, stepson, stepdaughter, grandson, or granddaughter of a living or deceased member of the NCAZO that is in financial need, and a grade point average of 3.0 or higher.
  4. A spouse, son, daughter, stepson, stepdaughter, grandson, or granddaughter of a living or deceased member of the NCAZO that is in financial need.
  5. A spouse, son, daughter, stepson, stepdaughter, grandson, or granddaughter of a living or deceased member of the NCAZO.

The student applicant shall agree that the use of grant funds shall be predicated on his or her enrollment or continuance of education in a recognized and/or accredited in state school such as a college, university, trade school, Business College, or as may be acceptable to the Scholarship Fund Committee.

Applications are due no later than close of business on July 1, 2011.  The application can be found on the web site or can be received electronically or by mail from any of the board members.
