Outstanding NCAZO Member of the Year

John Marshall, III
John Marshall joined the North Carolina
Association of Zoning Officials in 1988. He is a Certified Zoning Code
Enforcement Official with both the NCAZO and the American Association of Code
Enforcement.
His contributions to the association and its members over the past 20 years are
numerous. He has been a keynote speaker and presenter at no less than seven (7)
conferences and workshops (1992, 93, 99, 2000, 2001, 2003, and most recently
2007). John has shared his knowledge and expertise on a variety of subjects
ranging from investigative techniques, tools for enforcement officials,
regulating adult establishments and working with Boards of Adjustment. He is
dedicated to imparting his knowledge of zoning enforcement and administration to
all who have a desire to excel at their profession. John has unselfishly given
of his time and experience to the NCAZO. Often asked on short notice to
participate as a presenter for conferences and workshops, he has never denied a
request.
He served on the NCAZO Certification Committee for eight (8) years and was
instrumental in the development and administration of the CZO Program and
Course. He served on the NCAZO Board of Directors for five (5) years (1990 to
1995). He was President of the NCAZO for the year 1994-95.
John has worked with Mecklenburg County and the City of Charlotte for 20 years
in various Zoning Enforcement and Administration capacities. He has been a
Zoning Enforcement Officer, Zoning Board of Adjustment Hearings Examiner and is
currently performing duties as a Zoning Plans Reviewer.
His leadership and dedication to his jurisdiction, his duties, the NCAZO and its
members make him truly worthy of this award.

This award is given in recognition of an outstanding member of the NCAZO for the preceding year. The award is presented to the active NCAZO member who has distinguished himself/herself by loyalty and dedication to the Association affairs.
