Position Title: Senior Planner, Zoning Enforcement
Position Number: 4003
Salary Range: $45,427 - $72,683
Department: Planning

Under the direction of a Planning Supervisor, performs advanced professional planning work requiring complexity, responsibility, and technical expertise in the field of zoning enforcement. Responsible for leading enforcement efforts within the division, conducting routine site inspections, making  presentations and reports (both written and verbal) to management, community groups and public officials. Assures conformance with development regulations and policies; provides customer service by explaining procedures and ordinance requirements.  Provides staff support to Partners Against Crime groups and other Boards and citizen groups.

Minimum Requirements:

Minimum Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Planning, Geography, Landscape Architecture, Public Administration or a related field.

 

Minimum Experience:         3-4 years of progressively responsible work experience in Planning, zoning administration or a related field with a primary responsibility for conducting zoning and site inspections, interpreting ordinances and managing related cases.  An equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities may be considered.

 

Field of Expertise:                 Planning, Geography, Zoning Administration, Landscape Architecture or Public Administration.

 

Special Requirements:        Ability to express planning and land use principles verbally and in writing is essential. NC Certified Zoning Official and/or American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) preferred.
