Minimum Requirements:  At least 2 years of relevant experience in zoning, building construction, or planning.  HS diploma (or GED) supplemented by relevant college courses or technical training.  Associate's Degree in Urban or Regional Planning, Geography, Landscape Architecture or a related field preferred. Ability to read and interpret maps. Experience with GIS preferred. Zoning certification preferred.  A Valid NC Class "C" Driver's License.

Position Duties:  Inspects properties for conformance with the zoning code as it relates to building height, density, land use, setbacks, land and off-street parking provisions; investigates zoning complaints and violations; makes field inspections to ensure conformance with provisions regulating signs and fences; prepares and documents evidence to be used in prosecution of the zoning code; maintains records and prepares special reports.
